Naples Preserve Boardwalk. Open Dawn to Dusk Daily. 1600 Fleischmann Blvd. An elevated boardwalk enables visitors to take a .4 mile self-guided tour through an ecosystem that once comprised most of early Naples. The boardwalk design allows for the interaction of wildlife and flora throughout the entire site.
Ongoing The Conservancy's Wildlife Rehabilitation Center (WRC) ) tends to wild animals who have been hurt. Each month, the center receives and cares for more than 100 injured wildlife. In a year, the WRC provides care and nurses back to health nearly 2,500 animals with close to 50 percent being successfully returned to the wild. Patients at the WRC include birds, mammals and reptiles. In addition to its behind-the-scenes hospital for injured animals, permanent residents including owls, hawks, pelicans and a bald eagle are outside for public viewing. 4th Annual Southwest Florida Birding & Wildlife Festival. 300 Tower Road, Naples. Rookery BayEnvironmental Learning Center. 417-6310, ext. 401. Rookery Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve. This event provides an excellent opportunity to learn about birds and the rich wildlife of this region. Presentations by bird and wildlife experts, as well as a host of activities relating to wildlife biology and conservation, will take place at the Rookery Bay Environmental Learning Center January 18-20. highlight of the festival is the opportunity to participate in guided trips to 18 locations around the region, including Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary, Tigertail Beach/Sand Dollar Lagoon. Space on field trips is limited and pre-registration is required to participate. $20 for adults (3-day pass), $10 (single day admission) and free for kids 12 and under.

Naples Winter Wine Festival. The most successful charity wine festival in the world and ranked by the Luxury Institute as a top 10 arts and entertainment event for wealthy Americans, announced that the 2008 festival fundraiser will take place Jan. 25 - 27 in Naples. Celebrity chefs and vintners from around the world will participate in the three-day gala. Festivities include a tour of children's charities that benefit from festival proceeds, followed by a wine tasting; intimate vintner dinners at elegant private homes; a world-class wine auction and lunch extravaganza at The Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort; a wine-down party and celebration brunch. The gala's theme is Inspiring Tomorrow's Heroes.
